Diamonds for Doulas is a non-profit dedicated to reducing health disparities through education and doula support during and after childbirth. The organization hosts support groups in Tuscaloosa to help local moms with breastfeeding and more.
The organization hosts monthly support groups for breastfeeding and postpartum families in Tuscaloosa. The next date for their support group will be September 7th, 2025, at the WAWC Health clinic, 535 Jack Warner Parkway, Suite at 4 pm.
"There needs to be a local, in-person space that allows breastfeeding mothers to be celebrated and encouraged for how they choose to feed their baby," said Jamilah Channel, Student Midwife and certified Doula.
"Just like with breastfeeding mothers, newly postpartum families need a space that they can come to that will allow them to ask questions about the care of their baby and their healing after having a baby. It also gives them a chance to unpack their birthing experience."
Crystina Hughes, LPN Certified Doula and Founder of Diamonds for Doulas, Jamilah Channel, Student Midwife and certified Doula, Franeisha Coleman, Certified Doula, Tamela Hughes, a Licensed Professional Therapist, and Trendle Samuel, who is a certified lactation counselor, will all be present during this month's support group to answer any clinical or emotional questions that families may have.
Diamonds for Doulas also has an infant and pregnancy loss support group at WAWC Health Clinic.
