
Strong Thunderstorm Set To Impact Greene and Sumter Counties
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a special weather statement for portions of Alabama until 5:15pm.
A radar indicated strong thunderstorm capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 mph and nickel size hail is set to impact central Greene county and northwestern Sumter county.
Impact includes gusty winds that could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible.
Locations impacted include Eutaw, Boligee, Union, Gainesville, New West Greene, Panola, Allison, West Greene, Geiger, Warsaw, New Mount Hebron, Clinton, Five Points Intersection, and I 20 Rest Area Near Eutaw.
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. The NWS warned residents to not drive vehicles through flooded roadways and to seek safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
