The National Weather Service's latest forecast suggests Tuscaloosa could see up to FOUR inches of snow tomorrow! Are you ready for some serious winter weather? Check out our list of preparation tips to help you and your family enjoy a stress-free snow day!

1. Get weather-ready.
This is the most important prep step you can take. Tomorrow's snow isn't shaping up to be a long-term event, but significant snowfall can seriously impact your plans. Charge your phone. Make sure you have a way to receive any important weather advisories, and discuss your travel plans--who is going to drive tomorrow if you have to leave the house? Who's going to stay home with the kids if school is cancelled? Plan now and prevent unnecessary hassle and panic later.

2.  Stay warm.
If the power went out at your house, how would you stay warm? If you've got a fireplace, ensure you've got enough wood for the day. If not, consider purchasing a kerosene heater--just double-check that your fuel supply will get you through the snow day.

3. Make a meal plan.
I like to keep things simple--throw something in the crock pot and spend my day having fun in the snow instead of being stuck in the kitchen. Anytime we have a threat of winter weather, I keep plenty of healthy snacks (protein bars, nuts, veggies), cocoa, and sandwich stuff on hand. If the power goes out, we're good; if not, I still don't have to cook. If you're one of those MILK AND BREAD people, then by all means--you do you. Just tell me--are you making french toast with those supplies? Or do y'all eat a lot of PB&J's? I'm not judging--just curious.

4. Get your gear together.
I'm talking coats, gloves, scarves, hats, boots--whatever. Get them together and keep them near your door or mud room. When your kids wake up to a (hopefully) winter wonderland tomorrow, you saved your self the hassle of spending an hour hunting down that one missing glove/boot/whatever. The idea here is: get it done now and you can play all day tomorrow.

5. Clean the house.
See above--getting the boring junk out of the way means you have more time for snowball fights, blah blah blah. If you're a good mom like I am (hahahaha), you can also coax your kids into finally doing their dang chores with the promise of SNOW on your side. Want to build a snowman tomorrow? Clean your room. Want to watch Frozen and drink cocoa tonight? Clean your room. It's that easy--for you at least.

6. Bring your pets indoors.
This really needs no explanation. It's going to be cold. Bring your pets inside where its nice and warm.

7. Have fun!
How often does it snow down here? Live it up, y'all!
