Severe Weather Update: Alabama Faces Tornadoes & Damaging Winds

The Townsquare Media Weather Center has been closely monitoring a developing storm system that is set to impact Alabama on Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

Threats

James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “The highest risk of a tornado or two is over Southwest Alabama tomorrow night, where some surface-based instability will be present.”

Another concern is the damaging wind threat. Residents should also remember that gradient winds that are not thunderstorm-related could gust up to 45 mph.

This will be a fast-paced storm system, and the storms should quickly sweep across the state.

The overall timeline of the threat is between 5/6 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Most of the Townsquare Media Coverage area is in the time zone of 5/6 p.m. through 10 p.m. Bibb and Perry counties are in the 8 p.m. – Midnight zone.
