Severe Weather Outbreak Next Week Includes Alabama
There is a good possibility that severe weather will reach Alabama early next week or mid-next week. The Townsquare Media Weather Center will continue to monitor this developing weather system.
The Weather Channel said, “A severe weather outbreak, including tornadoes, is possible next week across the South as a multi-faceted storm with heavy rain, strong winds and some wet snow targets the central and eastern U.S.”
Remember, we are several days away from this storm system impacting our area. Information will more than likely change over the next few days. We are committed to giving you accurate and dependable information.
Timing
The timeline for this system's impact on Alabama runs from Tuesday evening into Wednesday. This will likely be refined over the next few days.
Risk Areas
This severe weather threat is part of a more extensive system forecast to impact Alabama and multiple states, including Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
At this time, portions of Alabama are under a 2 out of 5 risk level, while areas north and west of Alabama are in an enhanced risk zone.

Threats
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said the chief concerns are for “damaging straight-line winds up to 60 mph and tornadoes.”
James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “The line of storms will come through Alabama at a time when the air tends to be most stable, which hopefully will help to mitigate a major threat, but this is a very dynamic system.”
There will be more to come on this developing weather system.
