* At 759 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Reform,
  moving east at 15 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage 
           to roofs, siding, and trees.

  Gordo, Reform, Carrollton, Ethelsville, Owens, North Pickens
  Airport, McShan, Lubbub, and Macedonia.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Marion County in northwestern Alabama...
  Northern Lamar County in west central Alabama...

* Until 900 PM CDT.

* At 756 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from 7 miles northeast of Tishomingo State Park to near
  Mantachie, moving southeast at 35 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage 
           to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Until 800 PM CDT.

* At 709 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Ethelsville,
  or 8 miles southeast of Columbus, moving northeast at 15 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage 
           to roofs, siding, and trees.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH.

This watch is until Sunday, May 25 at 11 p.m.

“Thunderstorms will likely move through the northern 2/3 of Alabama later this afternoon into early tonight, and some will pack a punch,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.

[New information] The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded some Alabama areas to an enhanced risk due to the risk of tornadoes.

Possible Threats

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that risks include “Damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter size, and a low risk (2% to 5%) of tornadoes in the northern half.”

Spann said the “main threat will come from strong straight-line winds and small hail. The chance of a tornado is very low (but not zero)."
