
Severe Storms Expected Across Alabama: Tornadoes, Strong Winds, Hail
The Townsquare Media Weather Center is monitoring conditions for an active weather system to track across Alabama on Sunday. Please check back often for updates, as we are still several days away from this weather event.
Threat Areas
The Storm Prediction Center has placed all of central Alabama under a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms late Saturday night into Sunday afternoon. In addition, most of Alabama is under a severe weather risk.

- Tornadoes
- Damaging winds up to 60mph
- Hail up to quarter size
James Spann, ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “Storms that pass through Alabama will be capable of producing strong winds and hail; a brief tornado or two is possible.” Rain amounts of 1-2 inches are expected.”
Updated Timing
An organized batch of showers and storms will enter Northwest Alabama around midnight Saturday night and exit the southeast corner of the state Sunday afternoon,” said Spann.

Lamar: Midnight – 6 a.m.
Perry: 4 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Pickens: Midnight – 11 a.m.
Sumter: 4 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Tuscaloosa: Midnight – 11 a.m.
Walker: Most of the county is closed from Midnight to 6 a.m., with a small section until 11 a.m.
