Sam Hunt’s New Song ‘Body Like a Back Road’ Written After Engagement [Listen]
Sam Hunt announced his next single "Body Like a Back Road" will hit radio in one week and shared a clip of the "lighthearted" love song. While he's been writing for a new album for over a year, this new song was put together rather recently.
The car-friendly, melodic clip was revealed on Instagram on Wednesday morning (Jan. 25). "Body Like a Back Road" is in line with what Hunt has released previously — it includes a sexy vibe and very country imagery over a pop-friendly mix. Zach Crowell, Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally co-wrote this song with Hunt. Crowell is set to produce Hunt's new record, the follow-up to Montevallo.
"Body like a back road / Driving with my eyes closed / I know every curve like the back of my hand / Do 15 in a 30 / I ain't in no hurry / I'm gonna take it slow just as fast as I can," Hunt sings.
In a press release, Hunt shared the new single will hit radio on Feb. 1. On Tuesday morning he visited several country radio morning shows to talk about the song. He told Ty, Kelly & Chuck that it was written after he got engaged in Israel late last year.
"I connect music to the emotions that come from relationships, so most of the songs that I write are inspired by those circumstances, emotions, feelings, all that kind of stuff,” Hunt says. He goes on to say that fans won't have to wait for his new album to hear more new music.
"As I write these songs, I don’t want to sit on them for as long as it takes me to finish a record before I put them out, so I’m just going to try to put them out as I write them and finish them. As quick as I can get them done, I’ll be shooting them out.”
Additionally, Hunt announced the 15 in a 30 Tour with Maren Morris, Chris Janson and Ryan Follese. That tour begins in June and includes a stop at the Taste of Country Music Festival in Hunter, N.Y., in June.
