The week kicks off in Alabama with the potential for strong to severe storms. Here are the weather alerts issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

PERRY COUNTY > River Statement for the Cahaba River: Recent heavy rainfall is producing rises on the Cahaba River. However, levels are expected to remain below established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature.

The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.

* At 7:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 11.0 feet.

* Action stage is 15.0 feet.

* Flood stage is 36.0 feet.

* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 19.0 feet

early tomorrow afternoon.

* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Flooding around Oakmulgee Creek begins, and cattle need to be moved to higher ground. Overflow of pasture lands increases at stages above 20 feet.
