Prepare for Freezing Cold Wind Chills in West Alabama
Alabamians and those in the central and eastern states are waking up to some bitterly cold temperatures.

The Weather Channel said, “The season's most drastic drop in temperatures is now plowing through the central and eastern states with dangerous wind chills, and the arctic air could even topple some record lows.”
Be prepared for these temperatures to stick around for the next few days. Some areas will be below average for our region in January.
“Dangerous wind chills are expected during the overnight and morning hours through Wednesday morning,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Please take all essential measures to protect yourself during this severe cold. Exposing uncovered skin to these temperatures can lead to frostbite and hypothermia. Wear appropriate clothing, such as a hat and gloves, to cover exposed skin.
“West and Central Alabama could face nearly “72 consecutive hours of below-freezing temperatures,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
