SMP Automotive Plant in Cottondale was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after reports of an active shooter there, but a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department said police have found no evidence of a shooter there.

Deputy Jason Powell, the department's public information officer, said TCSO did receive initial reports of a shooting at the plant early Monday afternoon, but that as of 2:30 p.m., deputies searching the plant had no found anything suggesting a shooting had occurred.
