Tuscaloosa residents are calling for this high school principal to keep her job after news broke that they principal's contract will not be renewed.

According to a petition on Change.Org, Central High School's Principal Dr. Teresha Jones' contract will not be renewed for the upcoming academic year. The petition created by Aleaha Knox also states that "This decision made by the school board was given without any clarification or reasoning, causing a wave of confusion and distress amongst us."

Dr. Jones is an alumnus of Central High School and has been serving as the principal since the 2021-22 school year.

 

The petition is asking the school board to reconsider their current decision.

"We call on the school board to revisit their decision and provide a thorough reasoning for the same to ensure fairness and transparency in the process."

 

At the time of writing, the petitions has just over 1,200 verified signatures.
