Alabama softball coach Patrick Murphy won his 1,100th game in a 5-0 win over Louisville in Game 1 of a Sunday doubleheader. Murphy started as an assistant for the Crimson Tide back in 1996 before being promoted to head coach in 1999.

During his time in Tuscaloosa, Murphy has captured six regular season conference championships, four SEC tournament championships and a College World Series back in 2012. He has also brought home SEC Coach of the Year honors five times.

Patrick Murphy on winning his 1,100th game: "It has been amazing to be here this long. It has been a great ride with a bunch of amazing players and an amazing staff. It doesn't happen often that a power five head coach is able to stay in the same spot for this long, but I am very thankful and have lots of gratitude to have been here."

Alabama opened the year with back-to-back run rule victories for the first time since 2012. The Tide defeated Alabama State 10-0 on Friday night, Montana Fouts and Sarah Cornell combined to throw a perfect a game. On Saturday, the Crimson Tide blanked Notre Dame 10-0 to improve to 6-0 all-time against the Irish. Alexis Mack went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and added a pair of RBI's.

On Sunday, the Tide bullpen continued to dominate, defeating Louisville 5-0 in game 1 of a doubleheader and 4-0 in Game 2.

'Bama is back in action this weekend with a doubleheader against Liberty on Friday, another doubleheader against Gardner-Webb on Saturday and a huge matchup against No. 5 LSU on Sunday.
