The Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority will spread some holiday cheer and host a drive-in style viewing of Dr. Seuss' The Grinch at their 'Holly Jolly in the Park' celebration Friday evening. December 11th.

The viewing will be held at Jaycee Park at 701 Kicker Road and will be free and open to the public.

Additionally, guests can grab a socially-distant selfie with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 6-7pm just before the movie starts, and several food trucks will be on site to support.

City Councilman Kip Tyner also said lawn space will be available for families who wish to bring chairs and blankets and take in the movie from the ground.

"The beauty of this is this is a free gift not only to residents in the Alberta area but community-wide," Tyner said.

This event comes off the heels of the cancelation of the annual Christmas parade, which typically sees over 15,000 in attendance. While the parade was initially changed to be a "reverse parade," with the floats in place to help with crowd flow, PARA had to cancel the event after it failed to generate the necessary level of interest.
