
Education Scores Big at Tuscaloosa’s Annual Golf Tournament
Recently, in Tuscaloosa, the Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa Adopt-A-School Golf Tournament was held at Colony Golf Complex. The tournament benefits the Adopt-A-School program and eligible public schools in the West Alabama region.

According to a press release from the West Alabama Chamber, the Rumsey Environmental team earned top honors at the 35th Annual Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa Adopt-A-School Golf Tournament, claiming 1st Place Net and the title of overall tournament winner. With their victory, the team won $500 for their designated school, Hillcrest High School.
The tournament has a tradition of supporting education. That tradition continued this year with schools in the area receiving awards.
According to the press release from the West Alabama Chamber, Verner Elementary earned $500 for having the most golfers representing an elementary school, while Echols Middle took home $500 for the most golfers representing a secondary school. In addition, Hale County College & Career Academy won the random drawing for $500.

- 3rd Place Net – Buffalo Rock-Pepsi
- 3rd Place Gross – Bryant Bank

- Longest Drive #7 sponsored by Spiller Furniture & Mattress – Connor Paton
- Closest to the Pin – AM sponsored by Adopt-A-School – Tommy Cobb
- Closest to the Pin – PM sponsored by Adopt-A-School – Edward Hubbard
