NPD assistant chief Keith Carpenter confirmed to the Tuscaloosa Thread that the teenager, identified as 16-year-old William Thornton, was reported missing on Sunday.

Carpenter said Thornton took his grandfather's 2008 red Toyota Camry with Alabama license plate number "63A5W43" and NPD is actively searching for the teen.

Thornton weighs 163 pounds and stands at 5 feet and 6 inches tall. Family members believe he may no longer be in Alabama and said Thornton's last known location was in the state of Kentucky.

Anyone with information regarding Thornton's whereabouts is asked to contact Northport Police Department at 205-3339-6600.
