A man who taught middle schoolers in Trussville was arrested in Northport earlier this week and charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography, an NPD spokesperson confirmed Thursday.

Assistant Chief Keith Carpenter said officers arrested Justin Hrin Stegall, 22, on May 23rd after they received an anonymous tip that the man may have had illicit images of his students on his phone.

According to a report on AL.com, where the story was first published, police records list Stegall as a teacher at Hewitt Trussville Middle School.

AL.com reports that Stegall invited investigators into his home and said he "couldn't lie anymore," and that he "had a problem and needed help."

Investigators searched Stegall's phone and computer then detained him and took him the the Northport Police Station for further questioning.

According to the AL.com report, Stegall confessed to watching and possessing child pornography for years. He was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography and booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a combined bond of $50,000.

Stegall was bonded out at the time of this report Thursday.
