Along with rising temperatures across West Alabama, so does concern for the elderly increases and Northport City leaders are asking for help to keep our seniors cool.

Participating in “Summer Fan Fare” is easy: just drop off a new boxed fan to Fire Station One. Donated fans will then be distributed to elderly neighbors in need.

“We know sometimes we take for granted our seniors in our city who might not have air conditioning in their homes,” Jay Logan told WIAT. “So this is a way for our fire and rescue to partner together with the community.”

Summer Fan Fare officially kicks off on Monday, and runs through July 11. Residents can drop off fans from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Fire Station One located next to Northport City Hall.
