Alright friends, the premiere of The Voice – Season 4 has come and gone. For me, it was everything I hoped it would be.

The coaches all kicked the night off with an exciting cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together”.

For starters I had become comfortable with Christina Aguleria and Ceelo Green so I was apprehensive about replacements Shakira and Usher. Now that we’re here, I love them! I miss Ceelo’s charm and his smooth persona but Usher is a fitting replacement and he definitely has the accolades and experience to fill Ceelo’s colorful shoes.

Shakira… let me start with saying that I only own one of her records, ‘Laundry Service’. I was given the CD by one of my coworkers back in 2001 and really thought it was a strong pop release. I’m a fan of her talent.  Listen to me, Shakira is a bad ass and I think she will be a big player in this season of ‘The Voice’. Basically, I am reading a lot into how the coaches talk to the contestants and Shakira, so far, has given the most heartfelt and well-spoken responses. I’m all about some #TeamBlake but may lean a little toward #TeamShakira depending on which has the stronger roster.

Season 2, I had winner Jermaine Dupree picked out with a few weeks left in the show. Last year I had eventual winner Cassadee Pope picked right near the start of her Voice run. I don’t want to brag but I’ve done well so far and want to run down my thoughts after every episode.

Tonight the obvious standout was Michael Jackson’s former on-stage duet partner Judith Hill. I’ll go out on limb and say now that Judith will be in the top 5 for sure. I only say top 5 because I have no idea what to expect from the future players. See what you think...

I was also really sold on the performances from Kris Thomas and Mark Andrew as well as twins sisters and Team Blake members The Morgan Twins. Oh, and will 16 year old vocal powerhouse Danielle Bradbery be the driving country voice this year?

Can’t wait until Tuesday.
