Jack Hoffman cradled the football as he zeroed in on the end zone. Thousands of Nebraska fans roared as he pulled away from the other players on the field and finished his 69-yard run to complete a touchdown.

Jack made history this Saturday. He was the youngest player to score in Memorial Stadium and as his teammates lifted him in celebration, there was no doubt the seven year old was also one of the team's biggest stars.

Little Jack has been battling brain cancer since April 2011 and somewhere along the way, he and Huskers star running back, Rex Burkhead, became good friends. Captain of 'Team Jack', Burkhead introduced the team to his new buddy and the young man made quite an impression.

Fullback C.J Zimmerer and football operations director, Jeff Jamrog, decided something special needed to happen for the little boy who'd faced his cancer battle with so much bravery and determination. They put the wheels of their plan in motion.

Taking a two-week break from a grueling 60-week chemotherapy regimen, Jack found out he was going to be on the sidelines when Nebraska scrimmaged this past Saturday. What he didn't know was that a special play was being designed just for him.

After the receivers coach motioned him over to show him the play, Jack ran onto the field wearing a miniature Burkhead uniform and red No. 22 jersey. 60,174 fans took to their feet as a wall of blockers and players from both squads left the sidelines and followed him down the field and into the end zone.

Rex Burkhead felt as much joy watching Jack's touchdown as he felt when he scored his own before entering the NFL draft. 'Watching him run around and enjoy the Husker experience is a dream come true,' he said.

Little Jack will enjoy the rest of his hiatus before returning to Children's Hospital in Boston to resume chemotherapy. Doctors are optimistic about his prognosis after a recent MRI indicated his tumor had shrunk in the past year.

Good luck, Jack Hoffman, and go Huskers.
