After a weekend of severe weather across the south, the National Weather Service confirmed that a total of seventeen tornadoes touched down in Alabama January 19 through 22, 2017. 

The majority of tornadoes in the Alabama area were in the southern portion of the state, where the National Weather Service issued a PDS (Potentially Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watch.

There was an EF-0 tornado in Tuscaloosa County, near Hagler early Sunday, January 22. It was a brief tornado, lasting for just over a quarter of a mile with peak wind gusts of 80 mph. There were no injuries reported.
