Every now and again a record comes along that alters your musical landscape. I'm speaking of 'Southeastern' by Greenhill, AL native Jason Isbell, one of the most acclaimed albums of 2013. When the disc was released in June of this year, it debuted on the Billboard album charts at number 2, just one position behind Lady Antebellum’s 'Golden'. The disc is similar to a book of short stories from start to finish. Stories of change, sobriety, marriage and death.

'Elephant' is the fourth cut on the record. It's an honest look into dealing with and losing a loved one to cancer. A place too many of us have found ourselves. Trying to live a normal life while ignoring the "elephant" in the room.

I signed up for the Jason Isbell email list and received a message a few months back asking for club members to submit photos of loved ones who have beaten or lost their battle with this horrible disease.

The picture I submitted was one of my grandfather Clayton Jones and I around 1976. He lost his battle on January 21, 1991. I've always loved the picture because of his smile and the happiness in his face. Plus it's one of the only pictures of he and I together.

I sent it in and then forgot about it until Wednesday of this week when I got an email back from the club that had 5 video links attached. After watching each slide individually, I noticed our picture, in video #4, at 3:30.

I also, unfortunately noticed Judy Glass. A friend of mine on Facebook and a listener of 95.3 The Bear who recently lost her battle. She appears at 1:34.

WARNING: The "F-bomb" is dropped at :48 so please be aware if watching at work or around kids.
