Thousands packed the airfield at Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show this past weekend to welcome the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and many other skilled pilots and their crew.

My son and I were two of those many people that converged on Northport this past Saturday. Not even the cold, relentless wind stopped us from sitting on the tarmac to watching the excitement.

I don't think there was a performance that we didn't whole-hardheartedly love. We had our favorites, sure. I really liked the U.S. Marine's MV-22 Osprey demonstration and my son was all about the F-22 Raptor and it's earth shaking jet noise. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels F/A-18 Hornets flying in their trademark diamond formation, maintaining 18-inch wing tip to canopy separation was something that amazed everyone in attendance.

The gray cloudy skies didn't make the best backdrop for a perfect picture but here's some of what we saw:
