This is the kind of story that reminds us the Christmas spirit is alive and well.

Sophia Reed recently moved her family to an apartment in Oklahoma City, and it took  the last of her funds to pay the deposit, including their Christmas money.

According to Oklahoma's News 4, her kids Deneisha and Diauris came up with a plan to buy their mom a Christmas gift.  Diauris snuck off to collect cans and turn them in for money, but when his mom discovered he was gone she called the police and reported him missing.

When Diauris returned home and explained, everyone was relieved and the police were so touched they raised $800 and bought the family Christmas and housewarming gifts.
