After a dominating performance against Texas A&M, Alabama had players from both sides of the ball recognized for their play on Saturday. Mac Jones and Malachi Moore both earned SEC Player of the Week honors today with Jones being named Offensive Player of the Week and Moore being named Freshman of the Week.

Mac Jones had a career day against the Aggies, throwing for over 430 yards with four touchdowns. Jones was extremely efficient in his passing attack, completing 74% of his passes and spreading his touchdowns across three different receivers. Jones found John Metchie III for two 60+ yard touchdowns and Jaylen Waddle on an 87 yard heave that saw Waddle outrun everyone in sight. Devonta Smith also got in on the fun, catching a touchdown of his own to close out the first half.

The offense this week appeared to be firing on all cylinders, and the defense was suffocating.  It was obvious that after A&M tied the game at 14 late in the first half, the defense found a new gear.  True freshman Malachi Moore stepped up big time for the Tide, tallying six tackles and two pass deflections.  Moore also caught his first career interception for Alabama, ending an A&M red zone drive late in the fourth quarter.  Moore continued to show progression in the defense, and he should produce more big performances this season.

Alabama travels to The Grove this weekend to take on a Lane Kiffin led Ole Miss team with a potent offense but a lackluster defense thus far.  The Tide will have their work cut out for them this week, but expect big performances from these two again.
