LCPL Kelson Epperson is 19 years old and serving his 2nd year in the Marines. He decided to join the military when he was in the 3rd grade and he learned about the terrorist attacks on 9/11. Growing up, his mother Lashonda Goins, said he never strayed from his chosen path and when he turned 17, he joined the Marines. She hated to see her boy leave for war but she believes in a Higher Power.

I feel that God put kelson on this earth to be a protector. He is my hero. Kelson is currently stationed in Okinawa Japan with the 3rd Battalion,12th Marines . He has been home for only 3 weeks in the last year. I miss him so bad. Part of my heart is with him. There is nobody else like Kelson. He is a die hard Marine but he has the biggest heart of anybody I've ever met. He is my best friend. Kelson has a brother, Hunter and a sister, Taylor, that miss him so bad. Kelson is a graduate of Hillcrest High School class of 2011 and his hometown is Tuscaloosa.

Soon, LCPCL Kelson Epperson will be promoted to Corpora and we hope that means he'll get some time off to come visit the hometown that very much appreciates his service.
