Kelly Clarkson poked a little fun at herself and highlighted some of the year's biggest hits to kick off the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. Songs by Florida Georgia Line, Maren Morris, Dan + Shay and more were in the mix.

As Clarkson welcomed artists, fans and viewers to Wednesday night's (May 1) all-genre awards show in Las Vegas, Nev., the singer sat down in the audience next to former football player Terry Crews. That's when a security guard came up with FGL's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley in tow, demanding that Clarkson move to make room for the country stars.

The bit was a nod to a tweet Clarkson sent out after April's 2019 ACM Awards about being mistaken for a seat-filler during the country awards show. The original American Idol winner performed multiple times during the event, making the mistake especially funny, and Clarkson kept a sense of humor about it as well.

After pleading with Hubbard and Kelley to tell the 2019 BBMAs security guard who she is, Clarkson began her medley with FGL and Bebe Rexha's smash hit "Meant to Be." Morris, Zedd and Grey's "The Middle" and Dan + Shay's "Tequila" were also among the songs Clarkson included.

Throughout her medley, Clarkson roamed the stage and the crowd. During "Tequila," Dan + Shay danced along and took shots with crowdmembers around them.

Clarkson is hosting the Billboard Music Awards for the second year in a row in 2019. "Meant to Be," "The Middle" and "Tequila" are all nominated at the event.
