Junior League Holds Ribbon Cutting for New Outdoor Library at Holt Elementary
Recently, more than 30 first-year members of Junior League of Tuscaloosa (JLT) came together to build an outdoor library at Holt Elementary School.
An official ribbon cutting for the outdoor library will be held on Sunday, April 3rd at 1 pm.
A press release from JLT stated:
Junior League members worked for three weekends to make the vibrant outdoor space come together and provide elementary students with a fun end engaging place to spend time reading or enjoying class outdoors.
The project was funded by provisional class fundraisers and a donation from the JLT's Tornado Relief Fund. Each year, the first-year members of the Junior League of Tuscaloosa complete their provisional year, which includes a service project.
"I'm so proud of what this group of women has done with their provisional project," said Jessie Jones, JLT's provisional director. "They really wanted to make an impact in our community, and picked a project that has raised the bar for the years to come. In finding a way to give back at Holt Elementary, they also learned new skills and got to know one another even better. I couldn't have asked for a better group of women to work with.”
The outdoor library project is part of an ongoing relationship with the Junior League of Tuscaloosa and Holt Elementary.
