A commercial vehicle accident has caused a lane closure on the interstate in Tuscaloosa County near the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vance.

Trooper Jaylon James, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers, said a tractor-trailer was involved in a single-vehicle crash near Exit 89.

The truck reportedly struck the supports for the bridge over the interstate, and crews are working to clear the scene and assess the damage.

The crash, which happened around 6:30 a.m., took place on Interstate 59 near the 89-mile marker in Tuscaloosa County. James said the southbound left lane is blocked and will be for an undetermined amount of time.
