A Tuscaloosa woman was jailed this week after her infant daughter was hospitalized with a brain bleed.

According to court documents filed this week, police received a 911 call around 7:30 this Monday morning about an infant girl having a seizure at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex.

The baby was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa and diagnosed with a brain bleed before being flown to Children's of Alabama hospital in Birmingham.

There, medical professionals said the infant also had an old fracture to her left tibia and new breaks to her right tibia and fibula - bones in both her legs.

"A child abuse pediatric nurse practitioner was consulted and stated that the infant's brain injury was the result of either being shaken or a rollover car accident," Investigators said in the deposition filed this week.

Police questioned both infant's parents and investigators say her mother, Jazlyn Thomas, had been alone with the baby and another child all night until just before her seizure.

The 22-year-old Tuscaloosa woman "offered multiple possible causes that were not consistent with" the findings of the medical staff.

Ultimately, police charged Jazlyn Danielle Thomas with aggravated child abuse and placed her in the Tuscaloosa County Jail earlier this week, where she is being held without bond pursuant to Aniah's Law until a hearing with a judge.
