Organizers of the merry Christmas Afloat lighted boat parade on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa have postponed the event for the threat of bad weather Saturday night.

The night-time holiday spectacle was planned for after nightfall Saturday, but severe storms are expected to pass through Alabama from about 5 p.m.

Now the parade is tentatively planned for next Saturday, December 16th.

The route for boats runs between the Woolsey Finnell Bridge and the Lurleen Wallace Bridge in Tuscaloosa and back the same way.

More than a dozen boats usually participate in Christmas Afloat, which will be visible from spots near the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, along the Riverwalk, at the Tuscaloosa Farmers Market and at the levee in Northport.
