The sentencing phase for the third suspect convicted of killing 23-year-old Jennefer Nevin in 2017 is underway in Tuscaloosa, as of Monday morning.

Koran Lewis, who was 23 at the time of the slaying, was convicted of capital murder on Friday at the Tuscaloosa County courthouse. His two co-defendants, Vida Milagro Confetti-Duenas and Kendrick Ky’Andre Marshall, both plead guilty in 2022 and were given life sentences.

The suspects were arrested shortly after Nevin's body was found dumped near Watermelon Road in Northport. According to court records, she was beaten before being shot to death and hid away from the scene.

The third and final suspect now faces either life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
