High-End Women’s Boutique with New Orleans Roots Coming to Tuscaloosa
A high-end boutique born in the heart of New Orleans is coming soon to downtown Tuscaloosa, where a University of Alabama student and her parents will offer women's fashion and accessories.
Since her first store opened on Chartres Street in 1993, Holthausen has grown the Hemline brand into a fashion empire with more than 30 locations across the southeast, many of which are in college towns.

Now, a Texas family has decided to move to Birmingham and bring the store to Tuscaloosa as their daughter studies at the University of Alabama.
Owner and operator Bill Carlson told the Thread that his daughter, Chatham, is a UA student who used to work at the Hemline store in Texas. As her time on campus made the family fall in love with Tuscaloosa, they've decided to bring the brand to the Druid City and plan to open at 2111 University Boulevard in April.
Bill Carlson will run the store with his wife, Staci, and Chatham in a space they're moving into next to the brand-new CB&S Bank downtown, across the street from the fan-favorite Japanese restaurant Ichiban.
“Tuscaloosa has become a second home for our family,” said Bill. “With Chatham attending the University of Alabama and already being part of the Hemline family through her experience in Houston, opening a location here feels especially meaningful. We look forward to becoming part of the local community and serving students, alumni, and residents alike.”
An announcement from Hemline said the store will offer "a thoughtfully curated assortment of apparel and accessories designed for everyday wear, gamedays, and special occasions."
Until then, fans of the brand can stay up to date by following Hemline Tuscaloosa on Instagram here.
