Concert For A Cause to Feature Tuscaloosa’s Rising Country Star Jackson Chase Next Weekend

A Tuscaloosa native and rising country music talent will headline the aptly named Concert for a Cause in downtown Government Plaza next weekend.

The event, sponsored by the Tuscaloosa County Relay for Life and benefiting the American Cancer Society, will feature local talent Jackson Chase and the Southern Division band.

Their free-to-attend Concert for a Cause is set for next Friday, April 12th, from 6 p.m. until 9 in downtown Tuscaloosa's Government Plaza.

Chase and company will headline the event with their country rock sound, mixing original music with classic covers like this rendition of Hotel California they played at the Venue in North Tuscaloosa a few weekends ago.

While free, the concert will still have several opportunities to support the American Cancer Society including tickets for sale that offer a chance to win prizes including a basketball signed by Nate Oats - a hot commodity as his Alabama Crimson Tide brace for their first-ever Final Four berth in the NCAA tournament.

The Concert for a Cause will also feature a Kids Corner with games, facepainting, balloons, farm animals and more. Food trucks including Billy's Cooking, La Mexicana and Ice Cream Social are also expected to attend.

Tera Batayneh, the marketing director at RiverFall Credit Union and a member of Tuscaloosa's Relay for Life Event Leadership Team said this great event will also still include some familiar Relay elements - teams will walk laps around Government Plaza during the event, the Luminaria Ceremony will remember those lost to cancer and more.

"We are so excited for this year's revamped Relay event known as Concert for a Cause. We are hopeful to have several teams from throughout Tuscaloosa County register to participate as well as a strong showing from the community the night of the event," Batayneh said. "We want everyone to come out and enjoy the Jackson Chase & Southern Division concert while celebrating cancer survivors, caregivers, and supporting this great cause, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society."

She said the Tuscaloosa County Relay for Life raised $65,000 last year and they aim to beat that and bring in at least $70,000 at the concert next weekend.
