Carl Jamison Named Interim President and CEO of the West Alabama Chamber
Tuscaloosa accountant Carl Jamison will lead the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama on an interim basis starting next month, the organization’s board of directors announced Wednesday.
Jamison replaces Kyle South, who is resigning at the end of October to become assistant vice chancellor for state affairs at the University of Alabama System. The board approved Jamison’s appointment Wednesday.
The job is a familiar one in all but title. Jamison served as the Chamber’s chairman in 2025, is its immediate past chairman and sits on its executive committee.

Jamison is an accountant with JamisonMoneyFarmer PC in Tuscaloosa and has held seats on a long list of state and local boards, including the DCH Healthcare Authority, the DCH Foundation, the Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority, the Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama State Port Authority.
In the interim role he will run the Chamber’s day-to-day operations while helping the board find a permanent president and CEO.
Searching for a Successor
South led the Chamber for a little more than three years, starting July 1, 2023 after resigning his seat in the Alabama House of Representatives, where he had represented District 16 since 2014. He succeeded Jim Page, who left for a private-sector job in Huntsville.
The Chamber has not said how long it expects the search to take or whether Jamison would be considered for the permanent job.
The organization describes itself as a pro-business advocacy group serving more than 65,000 workers through more than 1,200 businesses, civic organizations and educational institutions across nine counties.
