Be sure to stay weather-aware today, as a storm system is tracking toward Alabama, bringing our area the threat of strong to severe storms. “A very wet period is ahead for Alabama over the next 36 hours with waves of rain and storms moving through,” said James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.

As with any storm threat, the Townsquare Media Weather Center encourages you to know your county and quadrant. It’s also wise to be familiar with the surrounding counties, since weather impacts don’t stop at county lines.

Possible Threats

Damaging Winds

Brief Tornadoes

Heavy Rainfall

“Thankfully, the air across Alabama will be relatively stable through tomorrow, which should mitigate any major severe thunderstorm issues. However, if there can be a few spots with sufficient instability, thunderstorms could produce strong, gusty winds,” said Spann. “The chance of a brief, isolated tornado is very low, but not zero. Best chance of seeing a severe storm is over Southwest Alabama.”
