Two things I absolutely adore are coming together for a little fun and a GREAT cause.

I’ve recently fallen in love with the game, or as some would call it, the sport of Mahjong. And I love everything about the RISE Center and the incredible work they do for our children and families across the area.

So, when you put Mahjong and the RISE Center together, you’ve got a winning combination.

The RISE Center is bringing the community together for an evening of Mahjong, camaraderie, and friendly competition at its “Get Your Mahjong On for RISE” fundraising event hosted by Mahjong Madame.

Grab your tiles, count your jokers, and save the date for “Get Your Mahjong On for RISE” on Tuesday, October 20, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Stallings Center, 600 Johnny Stallings Drive in Tuscaloosa.

“Whether guests are seasoned players or still learning the game, the event will offer something for everyone, with both guided play and tournament play options available,” said the press release.

Guests will enjoy an evening of Mahjong where you get to yell out “Cheers” when you lay down the Bird Bam tile; that is one of my favorite things to do. Plus, refreshments, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres will be available throughout the event. Each registered participant will also take home a special swag bag.

Registration is $100 for an individual seat or $400 for a table of four. Proceeds will benefit the RISE Center and its programs.

To register, contact Terri Patton at tpatton@ches.ua.edu.
