
West Alabama Families Invited to Annual Community Action Day
Community Service Programs of West Alabama (CSPWAL) is set to host its annual Community Action Day on Saturday, May 23, from 9 a.m. until Noon at the Benjamin Barnes YMCA.
The free event, which is open to the public, aims to bring families and individuals together with important community resources that support health, financial stability, and self-sufficiency in a welcoming, family-friendly environment.

“Community Action Day will bring together local organizations, service providers, and community partners to offer a wide range of services and activities,” said the press release. Attendees can expect health screenings, educational resources, and information on programs including Head Start, Early Intervention, Housing Services, and Supportive Services. The event will also feature activities for children and families, as well as food and refreshments.”
“We are excited to bring the community together for a day focused on connection, support, and opportunity,” said Olandor Lewis, Executive Director of CSPWAL. “Community Action Day reflects our mission to empower individuals and families by ensuring they have access to the resources they need to thrive.”
What to Expect
- More than 300 attendees are expected to participate in the event.
- Community partners will include healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, and social service agencies.
- Guests will have access to valuable community resources and support services.
