Former Alabama Quarterback Ty Simpson Schedules More Top 30 Visits Ahead of NFL Draft
Former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson will be a busy man ahead of the NFL draft in April, with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reporting that the former Crimson Tide signal caller has scheduled three top-30 visits with the Arizona Cardinals, the Miami Dolphins, and the Cleveland Browns.

Simpson's visits come after he held a private workout with the New York Jets last Friday at the Mal Moore Athletic Complex. Simpson is one of the fastest risers in this year's NFL draft, widely viewed as the second-best quarterback in the class behind Indiana's Fernando Mendoza. As Alabama's signal caller last season, Simpson completed 64.5% of his passes for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns to five interceptions. SImpson also added 93 yards and two scores rushing, leading Alabama to an 11-4 record, including the first-ever road victory in the College Football Playoff against the Oklahoma Sooners.
All four teams Simpson has worked with and has visits scheduled with are searching for a new starting quarterback. The Jets moved off of former Ohio State QB Justin Fields after just one season in New York, while the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals released their long-standing starters, former Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa and former Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray, this offseason. The Dolphins signed former Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million deal during free agency.
The Cleveland Browns have a long-standing history of struggles at the quarterback position, and shuffled through three starters during the 2025 season, including Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. Sanders led the Browns in passing last season with 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns to 10 interceptions.
The NFL draft will start with the first round on Thursday, April 23. Simpson is currently being projected in the mid-to-late first round range.
