Missouri Running Back Nate Noel Injured
The No. 21 ranked Missouri Tigers are down a player for this week’s game against a No. 15 Alabama who dropped in the rankings after losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Tennessee Volunteers.
Missouri running back Nate Noel has been ruled out with a foot injury for this Saturday's game.
Noel sustained the foot injury in the second half of the Auburn game last Saturday, where he rushed for 32 yards on 6 carries.
Noel has 503 yards on 85 rush attempts this season so far, averaging 5.9 yards a carry. Noel also rushed for 834 yards in last year’s season.
What could this mean for Alabama this weekend? With the leading rusher out this week Missouri will have to look to Marcus Carroll, who may be an equally dominant player as Noel with 321 rush yards on 66 rush attempts.
Carroll, is also second in leading the team in rushing yards. Carroll rushed for 1,350 yards last season.
Without having both running backs, the Tigers could be in trouble if their next man up cannot handle the pressure. Alabama has a chance to get back on a winning streak with a win against Missouri, however, the Crimson Tide have struggled over the last few weeks. Kane Wommack and the Tide defense showed up against Tennessee compared to the previous games. Jalen Milroe and the Tide offense were slow to produce last week as Milroe struggled to connect with his receivers, targeting Ryan Williams a total of 20 times and completing eight.
The Crimson Tide has suffered a plethora of injuries so far this season, but are hopeful for a return of healthy players to the roster. With so many players being out, it is crucial that Deboer and his team prepare for this Tigers team and Marcus Carroll at the head of the running backs. Missouri takes on the Crimson Tide for homecoming with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m.
