Miami Dolphins Trade Former Alabama Wide Receiver to Denver Broncos
The Miami Dolphins no longer have a former Alabama player on their roster after the latest move by the AFC East team, with Adam Schefter of ESPN reporting that the Miami Dolphins have traded former Alabama wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos are trading a first-round, third-round, and a fourth-round pick for the former Crimson Tide standout, and are receiving a fourth-round pick in addition to the superstar receiver to bolster their wide receiver room for the third-year quarterback from Oregon.
Over the last five seasons with the Dolphins, Waddle has played in 78 career games, making 373 receptions for 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns in Miami. Last season with the Dolphins, Waddle caught 64 receptions for 910 yards and six scores. Waddle eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first three seasons before dealing with lingering injuries in 2024 and 2025.
The Dolphins drafted Waddle with the sixth-overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft out of Alabama, where Waddle was a superstar for the Crimson Tide for three seasons, despite sharing his first two years in Tuscaloosa with three other first-round wide receiver picks in Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III, and DeVonta Smith.
In three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Waddle caught 106 passes for 1,999 yards and 17 touchdowns, with his best season coming as a true freshman in 2018, when he caught 45 passes for 848 yards and seven scores. He was the Crimson Tide's top kickoff and punt returner in 2018 and 2019, fielding 37 punts with 720 total return yards and two punt return scores. In 2019, he also fielded five kickoffs for 175 yards and a touchdown.
Waddle now joins a Broncos offense that led Denver to the AFC Championship, and a receiver room that features Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, and Troy Franklin as its top options. The Broncos now have three former Alabama players on their roster before the 2026 NFL draft:
Que Robinson - Outside Linebacker
Pat Surtain II - Cornerback
Jaylen Waddle - Wide Receiver
