Former Crimson Tide RB Joins Packers

Jacobs is instead joining a talented backfield in Green Bay, joining Aaron Jones with the Packers, according to Ari Meirov on X.

Jacobs is signing a four-year, $48 million deal with the Packers according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. This contract keeps Jacobs as the fifth-highest-paid running back in the NFL.

Jacobs was the 24th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft by the Raiders. After rushing for 1,491 yards and 16 touchdowns and also caught 48 passes for 571 yards and five touchdowns.

In the NFL, Jacobs has rushed for 5,545 yards, leading the NFL in rushing with 1,653 yards in 2022. He's caught 197 passes for 1,448 yards in the NFL. Jacobs is just 26 years old.

Jacobs will now spell Aaron Jones for the Packers, who are losing former backup running back AJ Dillion to free agency. Jones has rushed for 5,940 yards and 45 touchdowns in his career as a Packer. He's also caught 272 passes for 2,076 yards and 18 touchdowns.

The Packers have created a lethal backfield duo with Jacobs and Jones and should take the pressure off of second-year starter Jordan Love while the offensive weapons are still developing in the NFL. Three of the Packers' four primary pass catchers are entering their second year in the league.

Green Bay runs a run-heavy offensive scheme, so having two capable backs in the backfield will be helpful to their Super Bowl chances.
