40% of residents in the state of Alabama made at least one bracket. This comes in six percent lower than the national average of 46%, and 25.3% lower than Virginia, which has the highest percentage of bracket-makers at 65.3% of the population.

On average, Alabamaians spent 31 minutes researching teams before making their brackets. That comes in at one minute higher than the national average of 30 minutes. Michigan was the state that spent the most time researching brackets at 59 minutes.

Alabama residents said they would watch the third most March Madness games at 18. Their western neighbor, Mississippi, came in first at 22 games watched.

The average first-place prize in the state of Alabama is $5,795 for the most correct bracket. The highest is Nebraska at a staggering $12,533 average first-place prize.

The madness isn't over yet, as Alabama is in Phoenix, Arizona for the Final Four. They'll take on the UConn Huskies on Saturday, April 6, at 7:49 p.m. CT.
