"Blessed to announce my commitment to the University of Alabama," wrote Steckmesser on Twitter. "Thank you to Alabama’s coaching staff and everyone that has helped me to this point. Looking forward to this next chapter. Roll Tide!"

During Steckmesser's 2025 campaign in Homewood, Ala., the southpaw saw 45.1 innings of action over 22 appearances, posting a 2.78 ERA. Steckmesser added 50 punchouts — a number that would rank second amongst Crimson Tide relievers last season.

Steckmesser made one appearance against the Crimson Tide this season, tossing 0.1 innings while allowing one base runner and zero earned runs in Samford's 7-11 loss to Alabama.

Steckmesser joins pitchers Matthew Tippie and Kaden Humphrey, and position players Justin Osterhouse and Brennen Holt as the fifth transfer to join the Crimson Tide.
