Alabama Student Makes Rare Aviation History
The state of Alabama has a rich history, from civil rights to being home to many native tribes. This Alabama University is helping to build upon that history with a recent accolade.

Aviation and aerospace are nothing new to the state of Alabama. In fact, there are over 300 companies and over 14,000 statewide employees tied to aerospace in Alabama. A college student at an Alabama university will not only join the ranks, but he's also added a major stat line to Alabama aviation.
Tuskegee University recently relaunched its four-year Aviation Science Degree Program, and as of this year, they've had a student hit a big milestone.
According to Tuskegee University, 20-year-old Isaiah Hand just earned his private pilot's license. This is important because Hand is the first student to do so in this program in nearly 80 years.
“I am a first-generation college student in my family,” Hand shared with Tuskegee University in an article. “So in many ways this feels like uncharted territory.”
Hand is not only a pilot, but part of Tuskegee University's coveted Crimson Piper Marching Band. According to an article by Tuskegee University, Hand is the euphonium section leader in the band.
“Flight, class, band and then more flight, class and band!” is how he describes his routine according to Tuskeegee.
