In 2020, there were questions on whether or not sports would take place at all, but now that we have begun the process of coming back, Alabama's athletic department is shining in a number of sports. Here are just some of the highlights of the athletic department thus far.

1. Alabama Men's and Women's Basketball- Men's Basketball coach Nate Oats in his second season has a team that has surpassed all expectations on the court. Alabama is off to its best start since the 50's and are ranked 8th in the AP Top 25 for the first time since the 2006-2007 season. In Alabama Women's Basketball the Crimson Tide is 5th in the conference but holds a 12-2 record this season and undefeated on the road at 6-0.

2. Alabama Baseball- The Crimson Tide began the 2019-2020 season at 16-1 before Covid-19 put a stop to the season. It was announced this week that Alabama is number 25 in the top 25 rankings and with a returning offense and pitching staff that was top tier in the SEC last season, Alabama shows no signs of slowing down this season which begins in February.

3. Alabama Gymnastics- For a program that is consistently in the top 10 in the country, this one comes as no surprise to anyone who follows this team closely. Alabama is off to a 3-0 start and is ranking number 8 in the top 10 in the National Rankings. There is a tough stretch of matches coming up in the next few weeks against LSU and number 1 ranked Florida, but Alabama has started strong once again and will look to continue that throughout the season.

4. Alabama Softball- Alabama head coach Patrick Murphy said on a recent episode of Tidal Talk on Tide 100.9 that this team is "One of the best he has seen in a long time overall." Their schedule begins in February with a tough test against Texas on the road, but in addition to that, Alabama is ranked number 8 in the pre-season and the last time that was the case the Tide won the National Championship in 2012.

A statistic that brings all of this together was announced by Roger Hoover of the Crimson Tide Sports Network on Hey Coach Monday night. Alabama Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Football, and Gymnastics so far in SEC play holds a record of 27-2 since the 2020-2021 season began.
