The Townsquare Media Weather Center is focused on the upcoming temperature shift and possible winter weather.

Frigid Temperatures

Residents can expect frigid temperatures that will impact our area starting on Sunday. The Weather Channel said, “The coldest lows of the winter so far could occur in some cities, and wind chills will be dangerous.”

Following the weekend rain, the season's coldest temperatures are set to sweep into the region. Dangerous wind chill factors are also a concern.

“Although it's not forecast to set many records, the temperatures during this cold snap will be anywhere from 15 to 30 degrees below average for a large area,” said The Weather Channel.

Potential Winter Weather

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said, “Global models and their ensemble members continue to show increasing potential for a southern U.S. winter storm sometime in the Tuesday through Thursday time frame.”

It's still far too soon to determine the type and location of precipitation, potential accumulation, or the effects on travel.
