I'm a goal oriented person. I set small goals like 5Ks and half marathons to keep myself active. I also set crazy goals like the Krispy Kreme Challenge just so I can say I did them!

Returning to Tuscaloosa for its second year, the Krispy Kreme Challenge is the race you've heard about where participants run/walk one mile, stop to over indulge on tasty Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, then attempt to run or walk one mile back to the finish line! It's definitely one of the more extreme themed races in the country!

This year, the course has changed and an after party at Innisfree Irish Pub has been added with a buffet and live band! The start and finish line will be at Government Plaza.

My involvement last year was thanks to, not only my love of running and doughnuts, but because of the race's benefiting charity Big Brothers/Big Sisters. When I was 12-13 years old I became what is known as a "Little". My mother went to our local BBBS office and signed my younger brother and I up for the program and before I knew it I had a "Big" brother. Jimmy White was one of the most amazing people I have ever known. I didn't realize it then, but the impact he would have on my life would play a big part in the man I am today.

Until I cannot any longer, I will do whatever I can to support and bring awareness to this awesome organization! Please sign up here to run with me this Saturday!

There will be 2 categories:
1) Challenger - finishing 12 doughnuts is required, and
2) Casual - eat as many doughnuts as you want and then return to the start/finish line.

You don't have to declare your category until the "race" is underway. If you complete your dozen, you get a wristband certifying you ate all 12, and thus a "Challenger" and will compete to win prizes. If you return to the start/finish line without the wristband, you are in the "Casual" category.

Good luck!
