There is nothing worse than someone with bad breath.  I mean it happens to us all, but some people always have bad breath.  I met a guy once that had such bad breath, that he was even chewing on gum, and it still stunk.  Like, make your eyes water.  Now, there is something worse than bad breath; it’s “mask mouth.”  Yeah, you read it right, say it with me … Mask Mouth!

Go ahead and review the long list of complaints about wearing a mask and now add in mask mouth.  The NY Post posted noted that mask mouth “is leading to all kinds of dental disasters like decaying teeth, receding gum lines, and seriously sour breath.”  How does this happen, well Dr. Marc Sclafani told the NY Post that the “stinky syndrome is triggered by face coverings since wearing a mask increases dryness of the mouth — and a buildup of bad bacteria.  People tend to breathe through their mouth instead of through their nose while wearing a mask.”

I’m sure like everyone else; I don’t particularly appreciate wearing a mask, regardless of how fashionable I have gotten them.  However, I know the importance of wearing a mask in the fight against COVID-19.  I also accept the fact; that I don’t like it, and I limit my time out and about where a mask is necessary.  So, for me, it has been going to work, drive-thru restaurants, drive up groceries, and staying safe at home.   The CDC does remind us that “COVID-19 can be spread by people who do not have symptoms and do not know that they are infected.”  Therefore, wearing a mask is always a smart practice.
