
Heavy Downpours Prompt Flooding Concerns in Portions of Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a “FLOOD ADVISORY.”
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following counties: Bibb, Jefferson, and Tuscaloosa.
* WHEN...Until 615 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
At 422 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen over a short period of time.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

- Some locations that will experience flooding include... Northern Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Bessemer, Northport, Trussville, Hueytown, Gardendale, Fairfield, Fultondale, Holt, Center Point, Pleasant Grove, Tarrant, Midfield, Adamsville, Brighton, Graysville, Lake View, Brookwood and Coaling.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
